Understanding TruHearing Benefits
TruHearing is a TPA, or third-party administrator. TPAs manage hearing care benefits for health insurance companies. TruHearing handles hearing care benefits for over 85 insurance plans, including some from Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and VSP. That means over 160 million people in the US have TruHearing coverage. Check to see if you’re one of them!

Finding a TruHearing Provider Near Me
TruHearing providers accept the fees and selections covered by TruHearing so you can get the best hearing care for the best price. Stanford Hearing is thrilled to be a member of the TruHearing network at our Sioux Falls hearing center, Buffalo hearing center, and Madison hearing center.
Does My Insurance Plan Include TruHearing Benefits?
We can help you find out. Our care coordinators verify benefits and help you maximize your savings. You are likely to have benefits through TruHearing if you have a Medicare Advantage plan or employer-sponsored plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield or Humana. Your coverage usually includes hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and deep discounts on hearing devices.
TruHearing Hearing Aid Benefits
If you have TruHearing benefits, there are two plans to choose from:
The TruHearing Choice Plan
TruHearing Choice offers basic, standard, advanced, and premium hearing aids. This plan also has more brand options than TruHearing Select. Your co-pay depends on your insurance plan, but some plans offer a $0 co-pay for some hearing aids.
TruHearing Select
TruHearing Select only includes advanced and premium technology-level hearing aids. Your co-pay can be as low as $0, depending on your insurance plan.
Select plans often cost less but may limit you to one hearing aid brand chosen by your insurance company. The Choice plan can be more expensive. However, it gives you a wider selection of hearing aids. This lets you and your hearing care provider find the best hearing aids for you. The Stanford Hearing coordinators will help you determine which plan you have and what it covers.

What Hearing Aid Brands Does TruHearing Work With?
TruHearing covers many hearing aid brands, including Phonak, Unitron, Starkey, and ReSound, as well as its own TruHearing brand (manufactured by Signia). But, every brand is not available with every plan. So, even if you just look at Humana plans, for instance, different brands are covered by different plans. However, you can rely on the hearing care providers at Stanford Hearing to help you choose the best hearing aid for you. They’ll consider your hearing needs and your plan.

Are TruHearing Hearing Aids Locked?
Locked hearing aids can only be fitted, adjusted, or maintained by specific providers who have proprietary software, such as Miracle-Ear. All TruHearing devices are unlocked, so you can move away from your original TruHearing provider or get them fixed while on vacation. Stanford Hearing does not sell any locked hearing aids.
How Do TruHearing Benefits Work?
